Dear Hawaiians: Between the Mormons and “Beat Haole Day,” You Can Have Hawaii Back

Honest, Hawaiians, I used to be in favor of returning Hawaii to independent sovereignty because it was the right thing to do. These days, the more I hear about Hawaii, the more I want to give it back… for reasons that aren’t quite so positive. So, have at it — this is one less haole you’ll have to worry about. The Mormons, however, are still your problem.

Brian Brown’s Very Bad Week

By Fred Karger, Californians Against Hate

Poor Brian Brown. It has not been a good week for him and his Mormon front group, the National Organization for Marriage (NOM).

With two more states (Maine and Iowa) considering investigations of his organization for improper reporting of campaign contributions and money laundering, plus the on-going ten month investigation by the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC Case #08-735), Brian went on the offensive on Friday and sent out the email below to all his supporters and the media.

Why Hasn’t Glenn Beck Been Locked in a Cage Yet?

And why he been excommunicated by the Mormon church yet? Or is this sort of thing A-OK with Salt Lake, Inc.?

BECK: Hang on, let me just tell you what I’m thinking. I’m thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I’m wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out — is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus — band — Do, and I’ve lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, “Yeah, I’d kill Michael Moore,” and then I’d see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I’d realize, “Oh, you wouldn’t kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn’t choke him to death.” And you know, well, I’m not sure.

Formal Request for Investigation of Money Laundering Filed in Maine Gay Marriage Election

AUGUSTA, Maine — August 26, 2009 — Fred Karger, founder of Californians Against Hate, an LGBT watchdog group, sent a letter detailing alleged election law violations by Stand for Marriage Maine to the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices. The request for an immediate investigation was sent yesterday to the Jonathan Wayne, the Commission’s Executive Director and a copy to attorney General Janet Mills.

The nine page complaint (below) and fourteen attachments spell out how the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, Knights of Columbus of Washington, DC and James Dobson’s Focus on the Family had contributors give the money to their organizations, and then they in turn gave the money to the Stand for Marriage Maine in order to hide the identity of the donors.

Karger Warns Maine of Money Laundering by NOM, Mormons, Dobson, & Others

Letter Sent to Maine Election Officials Warning of Money Laundering by National Organization for Marriage (NOM) & Others

LOS ANGELES, CA / AUGUSTA, ME — August 13, 2009 — Californians Against Hate founder Fred Karger sent a letter today warning top Maine election officials of possible money laundering by opponents of same-sex marriage.

The organization trying to overturn Maine’s same-sex marriage law, Stand for Marriage PAC recently turned in 100,000 signatures to place the question on the November ballot. These gay marriage foes hope to repeal LD 1020 — the law passed by the Legislature and signed by the Governor allowing same-sex marriage in Maine.

Of the $343,689.50 raised to pay the Brighton, Michigan-based National Petition Management, Inc. to collect the signatures, only $400, or a mere .001 of that total came from individuals. The remaining $343,289.50 was given by various religious organizations and James Dobson’s Focus on the Family. The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) gave nearly half of that total, $160,000. The remainder came from Catholic organizations ($150,000) and James Dobson’s Focus on the Family ($31,000).

“It sure looks like they are trying to hide the donors in their latest effort to strip away marriage equality,” said Fred Karger. “There is no way these organizations like NOM and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland had all this money sitting in their treasuries (except for possibly Focus on the Family). They went out and raised it expressly for this campaign. It’s very expensive to hire these signature gathering firms to collect 100,000 signatures in a short period of time.”

Let the Money Laundering Begin

Fellow Mormons Embarrassed by Glenn Beck

Quite satisfying, finding this at the Mormon blog Messenger and Advocate:

Glenn Beck An Embarrassment To Mormons–
Perpetuates Harmful, Untrue Stereotypes

Not, mind you, that M&A goes to any great lengths to explain why Beck’s accusation that Barack Obama “has a deep seated hatred for white people or white culture” (whatever “white culture” is supposed to be) is “ridiculous”; rather, the real point of the piece is: “[W]hat makes Glenn Beck’s comments more harmful is that he claims he is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church does not need this type of publicity or association,” especially since the “post Proposition 8 media spin has already harmed the Church’s image painting Mormons who stood for religious principle as propagating hate and intolerance and being on the fringe.”

“Mormons … propagating hate and intolerance and being on the fringe”? Doesn’t sound like “spin” to us. smirk

Lying for the Lord

“This form of exerting influence over belief has a lengthy history. … This is also part of the even older ‘noble lie’ tradition. That is, if a falsehood serves a sufficiently noble purpose, it is justified. This is a particularly common approach for certain types of leaders and is at the core of Mormonism’s odious ‘faithful history’ and ‘lying for the Lord’ traditions.”

The Mormon Curtain

Now the Mormons Are Accusing Aune and Jones of Groping While Drunk

You ever heard of “Lying for the Lord”? If not, you aren’t a regular reader. Here — from MormonWiki, a wiki by, for and about Mormons one or more evangelical Christians (specifically, Aaron Shafovaloff; Google him) who know(s) far more about Mormonism than the vast majority of rank-and-file Mormons themselves do, or are willing to admit:

Lying for the Lord refers to the practice of lying to protect the image of and belief in the Mormon religion, a practice which Mormonism itself fosters in various ways. From Joseph Smith’s denial of having more than one wife, to polygamous Mormon missionaries telling European investigators that reports about polygamy in Utah were lies put out by “anti-Mormons” and disgruntled ex-members, to Gordon B. Hinckley’s dishonest equivocation on national television over Mormon doctrine, Mormonism’s history seems replete with examples of lying. Common members see such examples as situations where lying is justified. For the Mormon, loyalty and the welfare of the church are more important than the principle of honesty, and plausible denials and deception by omission are warranted by an opportunity to have the Mormon organization seen in the best possible light. This is part of the larger package of things that lead many to describe Mormonism as a cult. “Lying for the lord” is part of Mormonism’s larger deceptive mainstreaming tactics, and conversion numbers would drastically lower if important Mormon beliefs were fully disclosed to investigators.

With that in mind:

Mormons, If You’re Going to Knock on Doors All Over the World, Shouldn’t You Make Sure You’re Getting the Correct Message Across?

Or is bashing one’s daughter over the head with a lump of concrete an acceptable means of coercion— er, conversion?

Yeah, that’s a real question. I mean, once you stick electrodes on men’s tender bits in order to shock the gay away, and when the President of the Quorum of Twelve thinks it’s A-OK to punch out a suspected ‘mo because a Mormon can’t be held responsible for his own, uncontrollable gay panic, it isn’t too far a stretch from there to braining one’s daughter in order to get her to come to the truth and light and love that is the Mormon church.

Stuff like this doesn’t happen in a vacuum, you know (and you can thank us later for not even mentioning the Mountain Meadows Massacreagain— oh, oopsy!):

Mormons Bust Queers for Kiss on Cheek

Don’t give me this garbage anymore, Utahns, about how Salt Lake City is some sort of bastion of liberalism in the Theocratic State of Mormonism, a.k.a. Utah. Like this garbage:

Forget everything you think you know about Utah. Yes, it’s the reddest state in the union and the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). … But here in Salt Lake City, it’s a different story. The city and surrounding counties are a lovely blue. The current and previous mayors — Ralph Becker and Rocky Anderson — are well-known progressive Democrats with excellent records on the environment, gay and civil rights, disability access and other municipal issues, and Salt Lake County, home to four of the five most populous cities in the state, went for Obama in 2008.

Oh, bullflop, The Nation. Been there, many times. Got the stinkeye, every time. Never got arrested, thank bloody goodness, like Matt Aune and Derek Jones, but I credit luck, and never kissing anybody on the cheek, while passing through enemy territory.

Matt Who and Derek What?

“Squeaky-Clean Mormon” American Idol Star David Archuleta’s Daddy Busted for Soliciting Hooker (And I’m Not Even Looking for Bad-Mormon Stories Today!)

Honest to goodness, these Bad Mormon stories just keep popping up on their own:

“American Idol” Alum David Archuleta’s Father Busted For Soliciting Prostitute

During a raid in mid-January on a massage parlor in Midvale, Utah, the father of last year’s American Idol runner-up, squeaky-clean Mormon David Archuleta, was arrested by police and charged with prostitute solicitation, a Class B misdemeanor.

According to Us Weekly, Jeff Archuleta, 41, who was the consummate stage dad during his son’s Idol run, has pleaded no contest to the charge, paying a $582 fine following his arrest at an establishment called the Queens of Reiki on January 14th. …

Jeff Archuleta figured prominently in last year’s Idol, with various media outlets reporting throughout the season that he was influencing his son’s song selections. One report claimed Jeff was seen yelling at David following a recording session. Others suggested Archuleta had his son add a lyric from the Sean Kingston song “Beautiful Girls” into a rendition of “Stand by Me,” which upped licensing costs for the show; the move led producers to ban Jeff from backstage rehearsals.

Well, it’s the show’s fault then — it was obviously the stress of being banned backstage that led to his back pain, which led him to seek “legitimate massage therapy” (as Daddy’s lawyer puts it). Yeah, yeah, that’s the ticket!

Whaddya Think the Righties Will Emphasize: That He’s a Mormon, or an Immigrant?

Riverside Police Department (PDF, with photo):

Child Molestation Investigation

Riverside, CA — On Wednesday June 3, 2009, detectives from the Riverside Police Department’s Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit arrested Edilberto Esquivel Olivares (AKA: Eddie Esquivel) on several counts of child molestation.

Olivares a 39-year old, non-resident alien had been in the United States on a Work-Visa and was under investigation for several months. During the years 2001 through 2005, Olivares was a Boy Scout Assistant Leader for a troop affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS De Anza Ward (5900 Grand Avenue in Riverside). Two independent male juvenile victims have come forward and disclosed multiple victimizations that occurred between 2002 and 2008. There is no connection between the victims and investigators believe there is a possibility there may be more victims.

Anyone with information pertaining to this child molestation investigation should contact Detective Michael Barney (951) 353-7121 or Detective J. Wood (951) 353-7125.

Washington State: “Christians” With Nothing Better to Do Divided Over Killing Domestic Partnerships

You have to wonder about people who call themselves Christians, but whose real religion is solely the persecution of gay people:

What if they actually accomplished everything they set out to do — destroy all our rights (because you know destroying our marriages/civil unions/domestic partnerships is only the tip of the iceberg)? What would they do with the rest of their lives? After Teh Gheyz, there’s nobody left to openly hate, marginalize, persecute…

Case in point: The “Christians” up in Washington state, of such laughably-named anti-gay organizations as “Positive Christian Agenda,” “Faith & Freedom Network,” and “Washington Values Alliance” — who aren’t merely “conservatives” as labeled in the article, but Christians In Name Only, With Nothing Better to Do:
