From the Book of Jerks 13:13: Asshats Beget Asshats

asshatIn response to “Big & Rich & Homophobic” (October 31, 2007), which reveals D-list country-western singer John Rich’s big & ugly homophobia, a spelling-, punctuation-, and capitalization- challenged reader by the name of “ashley” and email address beginning with “pookielove_12″ (which says it all, in addition to revealing the writer’s probable age) whines:

i agree with john… i though everyone is entitled to their own opinion (freedom of speech) this is america people if you dont like it get the hell out.

In other words, ashley-pookie-poo, you’re all for free speech when it agrees with your narrowminded, bigoted views — and when it doesn’t, you want to throw me out of your country.

Listen up, pookie-wookums: In addition to my right to tell you that you’re the un-American one, my opinion is that you sound like some sort of inbred idiot who gets your talking points from right-wing hate radio, and couldn’t come up with an original thought if your pointless, sheltered little existence depended on it.

Next…

Speaking of asshats, some asshat who calls himself “Peter G Tomaro” ripped off my Conservative Babylon article on Dave Hyles and reprinted it word-for-word on his “Crazies Crusaders of Christ” free Web site (”free Web site”: from the Latin “I’m too cheap to buy a real Web site, and too stupid to build a Web page without an automatic Web-page-builder thingy”) at Webs.com / Freewebs.com.

I’ve lodged a formal complaint; while I’d like to see the entire site of this shameless copyright violator shut down completely, I’ll be satisfied if my original material is removed. Immediately. As for punishment for breaking the Eighth Commandment (or Seventh, for you Catholics and Lutherans), I have it on good word from Jesus himself that “Peter” is going to get a plague of lobster boils on his ass. (Locust boils? Something about a plague and jawing like an ass. Jesus tends to slur after four or five tokes.)

Now, the rest of our dear readers may be asking: “Sapph, why are you wasting your time on bigoted, inbred idiots who appear to lose control of their bowels the moment you criticize their big & ugly, homophobic idols? And why are you getting so irritated about some small-time putz when you know his Web host is going to take your article off his crappy little site?”

I’ll tell you why, folks: Because I just finished watching The History Channel’s fascinating two-hour special, Life After People, throughout which I kept nodding and muttering, “The disappearance of people would, indeed, be the best thing that could happen to this poor old planet. Well, most people… as long the only people left were the ones who were kind to the earth, and to one another, and wouldn’t dream of trying to force anyone else to conform to their beliefs or way of life.”

Right afterward, I discovered my original article ripped off by the Jesus-wingnut, and right after that, I received the ashley-poopy-pie email about John Rich — both of which only served to affirm my conviction that the planet would be far better off without people.

Well, most people.

Fundie bigots attempt to force beliefs down Microsoft’s throat.

Ken Hutcherson and his AGN thugs are now attempting to bully Microsoft into submission via a stock purchasing campaign. This follows a failed attempt in November to get the computer giant to revoke it’s benefits for LGBT employees.

AGN this week launched its “Buy Three, Donate One” campaign where supporters are urged to buy three Microsoft shares and donate one to AGN.

The shareholders would then be able to vote at Microsoft annual meetings. AGN hopes to have enough shares of its own through donations to force votes on what it sees as issues of faith.

Now this is a standard tactic of the RRRW. They don’t like other people having the same civil rights they do, so they engage in subterfuge and coercion to get what they want.

In a statement AGN said “that corporations are donating close to $1 Billion every year to promote the dissolution of family values in our society.” Microsoft is the first corporation to be targeted but if the campaign is successful other companies will be added.

Of course they get to define what a family is, what family values are and–therefore– what Microsoft and other corporations can provide with regard to their employee benefits and policies. Or at least that’s what they believe, and what they’re trying so very hard to make every one else accept one way or another.

The shareholders would then be able to vote at Microsoft annual meetings. AGN hopes to have enough shares of its own through donations to force votes on what it sees as issues of faith.

“We are not trying to hurt Microsoft or their shareholders nor are we calling for a boycott of their products or services. We are trying to help them,” Hutcherson said in the statement.

At least they admit they’re trying to force votes. It’s not often bullies are so open about their agenda. But it’s interesting that they claim they aren’t trying to hurt Microsoft or their shareholders. If a group were striving to pressure Microsoft into yanking benefits for Christian employees the howls of protest would be heard from coast to coast. Methinks Hutcherson and friends are being quite disengenous. In fact, I’d go as far as to say they’re full of….baloney.

Hutcherson said this week that he hopes AGN Financial with the support of conservative church groups across the country will be able to muster enough shares to bring the issue to a vote this year.

Now Seattlepi.com calculated the figures and determined that:

It’s unclear what effect, if any, the initiative could have on the stock price. It would be difficult to influence company direction — just to gain a 1 percent stake in Microsoft, about 31 million people would each have to spend $104 to buy three shares. Microsoft has about 9.36 billion outstanding shares, and its largest holder is Chairman Bill Gates, with 858 million shares, or 9 percent of the total. Capital Research and Management Co. follows with nearly 557 million shares, or 6 percent.

Can Hutcherson attract 31 million homophobic wingnuts to his current cause-du-jour? Only time will tell.

Feh! The Tighty-Righties Weren’t Letting Their Spawn Read Harry Potter Anyway

JK Rowling under fire from US Bible belt after outing Dumbledore as gay

JK Rowling may be a saint to millions of children and their parents, but today she is a sinner to a large slice of middle America.

The 42-year-old Harry Potter author has become a hate figure to Christian evangelicals in the US since she outed Albus Dumbledore as gay.

The mother-of three, who is worth £545 million, told a New York audience that the much loved head of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizadry was homosexual.

Talk shows in the Bible Belt have condemned her, web-sites have reviled her, and newspaper letter columns have been filled with complaints.

And there are fears it may affect profits at Warner Bros who have a further two films to make and a dvd on sale this Christmas.

Roberta Combs, president of the two million strong Christian Coalition of America, said: “It’s very disappointing that the author would have to make one of the characters gay.

“It’s not a good example for our children, who really like the books and the movies. I think it encourages homosexuality.”

She called for a ban on the books, saying: “I would never allow my own children or grandchildren to read the books or watch the movies, and other parents should do so too.”

Honestly, we never had a lot of interest in Harry Potter (we’re too busy fighting the bigots who try to censor Harry Potter) — but this makes us want to run right out and buy every Harry Potter book, DVD, and action figure on the market.

Brava, Ms. Rowling!

Gay Rapper Deadlee Launches World Kiss Out Day

Press release:

LOS ANGELES, CA — October 9, 2007 - The gay rapper who challenged the hip hop community’s status quo of Homophobia, Deadlee, is back at it again. He’s launched a blog at Deadlee.com (Perez Hilton watch out), and is initiating the first ever WORLD KISS OUT DAY on December 1, 2007.

DEADLEE (website: www.deadlee.com), made headlines throughout the music industry following his announcement of the HomoRevolution Tour and his controversial comments about hip hop’s biggest alleged homophobes, Eminem, 50cent, and DMX earlier this year. He went on to appear on CNN, NPR, The Tyra Banks Show, and Howard Stern. He has been the subject of numerous articles and blogs from Rolling Stone to Wired to The Advocate and the local newspapers of almost every city His tour went to.

WORLD KISS OUT DAY was inspired by the actions of Marion A. Bolden, the Newark Public Schools superintendent. Bolden made the decision last June to use markers to black out a photo in East Side High School’s yearbook that showed two gay males engaged in a kiss. The yearbook featured heterosexual couples kissing. In addition, recent remarks by rapper Ja Rule who has blamed gays on MTV for “f^&king up America” have inspired the flagship gay rapper to take action.

“Many people accuse lesbian, gay and bisexual people of “flaunting” their sexuality when they talk about their partner, hold hands or kiss one another in public,” says Deadlee. “These are activities that heterosexual couples do all the time. Due to homophobic reactions, some lesbian, gay and bisexual people are actually forced to hide their sexuality in public, not flaunt it. DECEMBER 1ST 2007 - WE HIDE NO MORE”.

In 2008, The World Kiss Out Day will be October 1, 2008 to mark the beginning of LGBT Month. Rather than skip 2007, the day will be observed on December 1, 2007, which is the same day as World AIDS Day.

“This one year, I think we can have both on the same day,” speculates Deadlee. “The magnitude of the AIDS epidemic will not be diminished by a kiss. Observances and actions can exist on the same day.”

For more information on World Kiss Out Day, please go to www.myspace.com/worldkissout or www.deadlee.com

Sir Elton on Trumped-Up Kiddie Porn Charge?

Nan Goldin makes art,
not porn.

Rocker says he’s owner of seized photo

Elton John said Wednesday that he owns a photo of two naked girls taken by award-winning photographer Nan Goldin that was seized by police at a British gallery over concerns it amounted to child pornography.

John confirmed ownership of “Klara and Edda Belly-Dancing” in a statement on his Web site. He said it is among 149 images comprising Goldin’s “Thanksgiving” installation.

Northumbria police said the photo was taken from the BALTIC Center for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, northeastern England. They confirmed Tuesday that an image had been taken from an exhibit “to assess whether or not an offense had been committed.”

. . .

“The photograph exists as part of the installation as a whole and has been widely published and exhibited throughout the world,” the 60-year-old rocker said.

“It can be found in the monograph of Ms. Goldin’s works entitled `The Devil’s Playground’ (Phaidon, 2003), has been offered for sale at Sotheby’s New York in 2002 and 2004, and has previously been exhibited in Houston, London, Madrid, New York, Portugal, Warsaw and Zurich without any objections of which we are aware.”

If it’s like Goldin’s other pieces (read: it’s art, not porn), our only response is: Oh, brother!

What If It Had Said “Christian? Fine by me”…?

From WETM IN Ithica, NY:

Imagine being sent home from school, not because of something you said or did, but because of a message on the shirt you wore. That’s what happened to Heathyre Farnham, a 10th grader at Spencer-Van Etten High School. The message on the shirt reads: “Gay? Fine by me.” Heathyre’s mother, Brynda Beeman, says the shirt did contain any offensive message, “It doesn’t say anything bad. It shows your support of your gay friends and it’s not an offensive shirt in any way.”

School officials at Spencer Van-Etten High School disagree. They would not comment on camera on the matter, but over the phone the school board president says Farnham was sent home from school on Friday because the shirt violated the school’s dress code.

. . .

The Spencer Van-Etten School Board has a public meeting at 7pm at the Spencer Middle School on Tuesday and will listen to the public’s grievances over the school’s decision.

This Just In: Bahamas Still Run By Hypocritical Bigots!

Bahamas Christian Council against gay LOGO channel on Cable Bahamas

While members of the Rainbow Alliance will continue to lobby for the inclusion of a gay network on Cable Bahamas’ lineup of channels, several local pastors, including the president of The Bahamas Christian Council (BCC), are planning to meet next week to discuss what may become another burgeoning issue between homosexuals and the church.

However, BCC president John Humes told The Nassau Guardian yesterday that the Council is strictly against the “gay agenda.”

“I don’t think it would be in the best interest for Cable Bahamas to proceed with incorporating this channel,” said Humes in a telephone interview. “There may be a market there but we already have enough problems with what we have now [in terms of channels on Cable Bahamas]. And to bring a gay agenda into the mix, we will not stand by idly and allow that to happen, for sure.”

Erin Greene, public spokesperson for the local gay advocacy group Rainbow Alliance, took her case to the media earlier this week. She wants Cable Bahamas to offer the LOGO channel, a network that specifically caters to bi-sexual, gay, lesbian and transgender (BGLT) viewers. The channel, according to its website, www.logoonline.com, offers a variety of programs from sitcoms, dramas, full-length movies, news and documentaries.

Greene said yesterday that the BCC should focus on far more important issues, rather than the inclusion of a BGLT network on the Cable Bahamas lineup. She noted there were no protests when Cable Bahamas installed more than 10 channels dedicated to pornography.
