Are You Going to Be Stupid and Buy Rockstar Energy Drink?

Addendum: By the way, Russ, we’re not suggesting, even remotely, that Michael Savage is involved in any way with Rockstar. Nope, not us, nossirree, so there’s no reason to sic your lawyers on us, the way you sent them after GayWired.com, et al.

Nope, we’re not claiming Michael Savage is involved with Rockstar Energy Drink. We are saying we’ll never drink your stuff because, frankly, Russ, you give us plenty of reasons, all on your own — like being a Republican, and co-founding the Paul Revere Society (or are you doing to “disavow” that, too?) — that would make us drink our own pee before ever lifting your product to our lips.

And never mind that — it’s rumored — “Rockstar’s sole officer other than Russell Weiner is Savage’s wife and Weiner’s mother, Janet Weiner, who fills the positions of director, treasurer, and secretary. Ms. Weiner must be exceedingly adept at these diverse responsibilities since she is also the director, treasurer, and secretary of Savage Productions.” (GayWired) Or that — it’s rumored — “Rockstar and Savage Productions do share the same mailing address and street address.” (NNDB)

Original post:

Oh, give me a freaking break, Russell Weiner — any queer with half an ounce of gray matter doesn’t buy your buy-in for one nanosecond. And any LGBT organization (a.k.a. SOGs — Sell-Out Gays) that accepts your tainted money should be shunned by all self-respecting LGBTs for eternity — not as punishment, but simply because they’re as stupid as a dog that’ll lap up any sign of affection, no matter how fake, from the owner who’s been beating said dog, mercilessly, since day one.

Dr. Laniac sums it up:

Russell Weiner, CEO of Rock Star, is the son of Michael Weiner, known better as extreme right-wing radio talkshow host Michael Savage. Savage expresses extreme viewpoints filled with anti-immigrant, gaybashing, intolerant, hate-filled sentiments. He has applauded the abuse at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, opposed aid for tsunami victims, and called for the dropping of nuclear weapons on an an Arab country, any Arab country. He was fired from a brief stint at MSNBC after telling a gay caller to “get AIDS and die”. He runs a group called The Paul Revere Society, which among other things, calls for the imprisonment of anti-war activists for sedition.

Memory refreshed yet? If not, Google is your friend.

Now, try to keep the bile from backing up into your throat as you read breathlessly excited SOGs (try the Bilerico Project — which I will never link to as long as Bil Browning sees fit to run anti-gay, pot-stirring garbage by professional attention whore Yasmin Sex-Slaves-Who-Cry-Rape-Are-Crying-Wolf Nair) running around like Jesus H. Christ hisownbadself just landed in a spaceship upon hearing of Junior Weiner’s piddly (and ten grand is nothing to these people) buy-out.

And then read something smart (the first smart thing the SF Examiner has published in a long time), and don’t buy into the battered-wife mindset:

Why LGBT groups should refuse contributions by Russell Weiner and Rockstar Energy Drink

Simply put: Because it’s hush money.

I have no doubt that the folks at Change.org and The Bilerico Project, The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada, GLSEN, The Trevor Project, and Michael Rogers of PageOneQ.com are and were sincere in their efforts to get Rockstar’s CEO and founder, Russell Goldencould Weiner, to disavow the anti-gay statements made by his father, our favorite radio blowhard, Michael Savage.

But while I don’t doubt the sincerity of those groups, I do doubt Weiner’s.

Why? Because I’m a firm believer in the adage, the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree.

To catch you up to speed, a number of gay rights groups have called for a boycott of Rockstar after it was “discovered” that the company’s CEO, Weiner, is Savage’s son, and that Savage’s wife, Janet, is also an officer.

Russell sent his lawyers after those sites, threatening to sue them for defamation if they continued to assert that Michael Savage had anything to do with the creation of the company.

That’s in spite of early Rockstar Web site statements in which Russell credited his mom and dad with helping develop the formula for the drink. So maybe Savage didn’t help found the company, but Russell is apparently saying he did help create the product. Pick nits, much?

Here’s why I say the groups should return any contribution made by Weiner or Rockstar: …

Read on at the link. And don’t buy the B.S. Or— well, it’s up to you if you want to buy the damned drink. But if you do, I sure as hell won’t have any respect for you in the morning.
