Oh, So That’s Why ConBab Traffic for Todd Blodgett Has Gone Off the Scale Today

Conservative Babylon, as our regular readers know, is our continually updated database/blog of right-wingers gone really, really bad.
It’s also the most consistently popular section of the entire Lavender Liberal site, whose traffic is solid and steady — but which, to no surprise, spikes when something big happens involving one of the hundreds of Republican/Christian rapists, child molesters, serial divorcés, garden-variety adulterers, or other miscreants we’ve been keeping book on since 2003.
We’re experiencing such a spike today; our logs show an endless stream of Google queries for “Todd Blodgett” — a Conservative Babylonian unlike most; although his name is connected with the Franklin Credit Union Child-Sex Ring Scandal, Blodgett has never been convicted of any sex crimes (like most in our rogues’ gallery of “family values” hypocrisy).
Nevertheless, Blodgett’s ConBab entry stands out among my list of Right-Wingers I’d Least Like to Run Into in a Dark Alley. Read his entry, and you’ll understand why the guy scares the bejeebers out of me.
Anyway, when I saw this huge spike in hits to Blodgett’s ConBab entry, my first thought was that he had died. My second thought was that he’d shot up an abortion clinic.
My second thought wasn’t too far off from the truth; it turns out Blodgett’s name is in the news because “he spent a lot of time with” 88-year-old James W. Von Brunn, alleged white supremacist who allegedly went on a shooting rampage at the U.S. Holocaust Museum, allegedly killing a black security guard, “in the 1990s and early 2000s.”
This comes from Fox News (yeah, I know, but it’s an uncharacteristically straightforward news story, by Fox standards):
Todd Blodgett, a former White House aide to President Ronald Reagan who later became affiliated with extremist groups, said he spent a lot of time with Von Brunn in the 1990s and early 2000s.“Von Brunn is obsessed with Jewish people,” Blodgett told the Post. “He had equal contempt for both Jews and blacks, but if he had to pick one group to wipe out, he’d always say it would be Jews.”
Von Brunn went so far as to say he fought on the wrong side of World War II, according to Blodgett.
“You’d get the impression that he was intelligent and a bit off,” said Blodgett, who worked as a paid FBI informant on white supremacist groups.
