Flier for Saturday’s Protest: Did Prop 8 Really Pass?
Velvet Revolution has a flier in PDF for you to print, cut (they’re two-up to an 8-1/2″x11″ page), and hand out tomorrow at the protests.
It says:
Did Prop. 8 Really Pass? Maybe Not! Check This Out! Election integrity experts say evidence beginning to show problems with Prop 8 results!
• National Exit Poll showed Prop 8 LOSING before results were adjusted to match vote totals. (Exit polls are used worldwide to detect election problems.)
• Targeted purging of voters may mean a huge number of “no” votes on Prop 8 are among hundreds of thousands of votes not yet counted. (See www.sos.ca.gov)
• Collected incident reports from voters election observers indicate problems that need immediate investigation.

Me, I’m not relying on a recount, and anyway, Proposition 8 is clearly unconstitutional and should never have been put to a vote in the first place — but I’m all for as much scrutiny as possible, so, hey, it can’t hurt to try.
I also know of at least two voters (one in my own family) who voted “Yes” when they thought a “Yes” vote actually meant “yes to marriage equality.” That may not mean much in the course of the cosmos, but then, a lot of people scoffed at the startling breakout coalition of Little Old Jewish Ladies of Palm Beach for Pat Buchanan, too — and such easy dismissal probably cost Al Gore the 2000 election.
And, as one No On 8 leader estimated in my presence, as many as 10% of the (pro-gay) voters reached by No On 8 phonebankers believed “Yes” meant “No,” and vice versa.
Throw in the usual batch of tried-and-true dirty tricks our opponents have used since voting was done with a chisel and clay tablet, and, well…
None of which has to do with miscounts or purging, but I cite these as examples of plenty that could have gone wrong, and probably did.
