Video: Ellen on The Tonight Show: “No on 8, everybody, no on 8.”
Excellent: On “The Tonight Show” last night, Ellen DeGeneres talked about her marriage to Portia de Rossi, marriage in general, and the waste in raising millions of dollars to promote hate (with California’s anti-marriage Proposition 8), when the U.S. economy is in shambles.
Unfortunately, but not unexpectedly, Jay Leno (who has a history of coming off like an anti-gay boob) ended the sequence with a crack about how he can’t wait for the “Gay Divorce” reality show. Nevertheless, this is a great clip you’ll enjoy. In her own inimitable way, Ellen shoots to hell the anti-gay crusaders’ hysterical fearmongering — which is the best possible P.R. we could ever ask for.
I’ve started the clip at the marriage bit, but if you want, you can watch the entire program (in which Ellen lets audience members smell her Jean Naté, and throws a rock in Julia Louis-Dreyfuss’s face) by mousing over the video while it’s running, and using the controls to start it from the beginning.
