Wingnuts Go Ballistic Over Jerry Sanders
As expected, the anti-gay brigades are all bent out of shape over San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders’ epiphany that homos deserve happiness, too:
Sanders hears it from Republicans
EL CAJON – East County Republicans struck back at San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders yesterday, a week after he and the San Diego City Council declared their support for same-sex marriage.
About 25 politicians, including school trustees, planning commissioners and city councilmen, said they were disappointed with Sanders. One said he will form a political action committee to make sure elected officials honor Proposition 22, the state measure that bans gay marriage.
In an emotional speech last week, Sanders said he would support giving homosexuals – including his daughter – the right to marry. It was a turnaround for the Republican mayor, who previously said he would veto the council’s 5-3 vote supporting same-sex marriage.

Outside the El Cajon courthouse yesterday, speakers said they were duped by Sanders.

San Diego’s City Council joined those of Los Angeles, San Jose and Long Beach in supporting same-sex unions by voting to submit briefs to the court, though none of the cities is a formal party to the case.
