Scottsdale Tries to Repair Anti-Gay Image
Reports AZcentral.com:
The Scottsdale Human Relations Commission voted Monday to recommend that Scottsdale adopt an ordinance protecting gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender residents from bias in employment and public accommodations, as well as other forms of discrimination.
. . .
The move came after months of bad press for Scottsdale and the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community - which is widely referred to as GLBT.
There have been two separate physical attacks on gays outside Scottsdale night clubs within the past six months.
Mayor Mary Manross met with the gay-rights group Equality Arizona in August and vowed to ensure the city was safe and welcoming to all.
“We have a community under attack,” [chairwoman Michele deLaFreniere] said. “That is of major concern to the GLBT community.”
