Gavin Newsom Shames Los Altos (Good!)

Los Altos kids get support from SF mayor

Snubbed in February by its own city council, the Los Altos High School Gay Straight Alliance got a vote of support this month from San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom.

Newsom wrote the GSA March 1, saluting the GSA’s efforts to make “Los Altos High School an area of acceptance and support for its student population.” Newsom also proclaimed June 7 “Los Altos High School Gay Straight Alliance Day” in San Francisco and invited members of the organization to march with him in the San Francisco Pride Parade on June 25.

“We’re looking at some more ways we can support the Los Altos GSA,” said Jimmer Cassiol of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services. “We think it is important that they know they have the full support of our community. We’re thinking of creative and productive ways to do that.”
